The Petlyakov Pe-2 was a Soviet twin-engine dive bomber that first flew in 1939, becoming one of the most important Soviet bombers throughout the Second World War. With a 12.7-meter fuselage, 17.2-meter wingspan, 540 kilometers per hour speed, and three-crew configuration, it combined speed with accuracy in ground attack operations. The aircraft's robust construction permitted repeated low-level attacks despite enemy fire.
