Building on the Ka-15 design, the Kamov Ka-18 represented an incremental evolution of Soviet helicopter engineering when it debuted in 1955. This light utility helicopter retained the single-engine architecture but stretched the airframe to 7 meters, though its 165-kilometer range was notably reduced compared to its predecessor. The 150 km/h maximum speed remained comparable to earlier models.
