A rare German-Japanese collaborative reconnaissance seaplane, the Heinkel Aichi E3A first flew in 1929 and combined engineering traditions from two nations. Its 11.1-metre wingspan and 753-kilometre range suited extended naval patrols, while 197 km/h performance matched reconnaissance requirements of the era.
