The Convair XC-99 of 1947 was a revolutionary heavy transport, the largest and heaviest aircraft to fly at its time. Stretched from the B-36 bomber, at 55.6 meters long with 70.1-meter span and six engines producing 494.1 km/h, it proved the feasibility of ultra-large cargo aircraft.
