The Convair F-106 Delta Dart of 1956 was the ultimate refined delta-wing interceptor, fast enough to catch most Soviet bombers. At 21.6 meters with an 11.7-meter span, single-seat, and capable of 2,453.9 km/h—approaching Mach 2.3—it dominated air defense for nearly three decades.
