The 1946 Yakovlev Yak-15 was among the first Soviet jet fighters, crewed by one with single engine, 9.2-metre wingspan, and 8.7-metre fuselage. Its 786 km/h speed represented the transition from propeller to jet propulsion. The Yak-15 pioneered Soviet jet fighter development.
