The Soviet Tupolev ANT-3 reconnaissance aircraft appeared in 1925 crewed by two with single engine, 13-metre wingspan, and 9.9-metre fuselage. Its 204 km/h speed and 880-kilometre range equipped it for border patrol and reconnaissance duties. The ANT-3 exemplified early Soviet military aviation design philosophy.
