The Sea Lion I pioneered Supermarine's air racing efforts when it first flew in 1919 as a single-seat racing flying boat. Measuring 8 metres in length with a single engine, it achieved 236.6 km/h. This aircraft established the foundation for Supermarine's later celebrated racing seaplane designs.
