The Lockheed P-3 Orion, which first flew in 1959, became the definitive maritime patrol aircraft for naval operations worldwide. Its four-engine design accommodated eleven crew members across a 35.6-meter length, achieving 761.2 km/h for extended anti-submarine and reconnaissance missions. The 30.4-meter wingspan provided stable sensor platform characteristics.
