The Kamov Ka-31 airborne early warning helicopter of 1987 served Soviet naval forces with two-crew configuration and twin-engine power. Its rotating radar antenna and 600-kilometre range enabled air and sea surveillance across extended ocean areas. The 250 km/h speed balanced patrol endurance with tactical responsiveness.
