The 1942 Yakovlev Yak-9 fighter was a single-seat, single-engine monoplane with 9.7-metre wingspan and 8.6-metre fuselage. Achieving 690 km/h and 675-kilometre range, it became one of World War II's most produced fighters with outstanding performance. The Yak-9 remains iconic in Soviet aviation history.
