The 1959 Tupolev Tu-22 medium bomber crewed by three with twin engines, 23.2-metre wingspan, and 41.6-metre fuselage. Its 1510 km/h speed and 4900-kilometre range equipped it for supersonic bombing missions. The Tu-22 served Soviet air forces and those of allied nations throughout the Cold War.
