The Soviet Tupolev ANT-2 made its first flight in 1924 as an experimental aircraft with single engine, 10-metre wingspan, and 7.5-metre fuselage. Its 170 km/h speed and 425-kilometre range served research and development purposes. The ANT-2 represented Soviet experimentation in monoplane design during the transition from biplanes.
