A single-seat military fighter from 1916, the Hansa-Brandenburg D.I represented the first generation of dedicated air combat aircraft. With a compact airframe measuring just 6.3 metres and a single engine producing 187 km/h, this monoplane combined early fighter design principles with robust construction. Its narrow 8.5-metre wingspan enabled rapid maneuvering in the aerial engagements of the Great War.
