Pipistrel Alpha Trainer

The Pipistrel Alpha Trainer is a Slovenian composite, low-wing, two-seat aircraft powered by a Rotax 912 or electric Pipistrel E-811 motor, certificated for LAPL and PPL(A) training and a pioneer of electric aviation. It is a workhorse of European EASA general-aviation training fleets, used at both DTO and ATO operators for hour-building and rating progression. Its straightforward piston single-engine layout is ideal for early SEP rating training.

What is the Pipistrel Alpha Trainer used for in flight training?

The Alpha Trainer's electric variant (Alpha Electro) holds the distinction of being the first EASA-certificated electric training aircraft, making it the entry point for zero-emission pilot training programmes emerging across European ATOs. The standard Rotax-powered version offers low fuel burn and mogas capability. Its modern composite construction and clean aerodynamics give handling superior to many older LSA types. Forward-thinking ATOs are adopting the Alpha as a first-hours trainer, introducing students to both the pleasure of flying and the sustainability future of aviation.
