The Lohner L reconnaissance flying boat served Austria-Hungary's naval missions from 1915 onward. Built with single-engine endurance suited to patrol work, its 16.2-metre wingspan and 600 kilometre range enabled extended reconnaissance flights over contested waters. The flying boat hull provided practical advantages for operations from rivers and coastal bases, making it a valuable asset for maritime observation during the First World War.
